Exercise Equipment for Seniors

If your above 55 years of age and you wanna be fit, this page is for you. Firstly, I would like to congratulate you for visiting this page because to me it particularly shows how much passion you’ve got in order to be fit and healthy for the rest of your life. If this is your first time searching for “Exercise Equipment”, I would recommend you read my other blog on “Exercise Equipment for Beginners – Cardio Machines” and then come back to this post. Without further due, let’s get started!

Less Impact Equipment’s

When you consider yourself as a “Senior Citizen”, one must always do workouts that have “low impact” on the body. When I use the term “low impact”, it means low pressure/relaxed/less vigorous workouts. At this age if you try to push yourself, you will have a tough time with injuries as your body recovery system is quite slow.

Aging and Recovery are inversely proportional to each other. By inversely proportional I mean that as one factor increases, the other decreases. In this case, as your age increases, recovery of the human body decreases. If your lucky, you may recover or some individuals may not even recover at all. I recommend that you take it easy and start listening to your body.

I’ll be discussing about all the five cardio machines which include:-

  • Treadmills
  • Exercise Bikes
  • Rowing Machines
  • Elliptical Cross-Trainers
  • Stair Climbers

I personally recommend that as a beginner, you start a particular workout slowly and then build up the pace. Do not use it vigorously as it might have a negative impact on your body. However, if your confident in yourself then it’s your wish.

Treadmill is quite effective when you start out at first. It’s a very common type of cardio workout that is implemented by many people all around the world. All three activities like walking, jogging and running can be done on the treadmill. If you’ve used a treadmill before and your comfortable with it, you can even start running.

Although running is more effective, it can be substituted with a combined training which includes both walking and jogging (these have less impact on the body and can be very effective).

In order to achieve the best possible results, it’s better to start your workout as soon as you have finished with your breakfast. Exercising in theĀ  morning is best for both your body and mind. In this way, your day can be much more productive.

Exercise Bikes

These are also known as cycling machines so don’t get confused when I replace it with “Exercise Bikes”. Exercise Bikes are very relaxing and can take your legs to the next level. It can strengthen your legs so that in the future (as you age ) you won’t have any problems walking around.

It is very safe and you can also increase the effort level. As you keep increasing the effort level, it gets harder and you would need to apply more pressure in order for the pedals to rotate.

Study shows that 30 minutes of vigorous cycling a day can actually destroy some cancer cells in human body. For senior citizens it is the best possible equipment because it won’t give you any hard time with injuries.

Rowing Machines

Rowing does miracles to your upper body and your lower body. It can tone your upper body and increase the strength of your biceps and back muscles. I recommend watching some videos or getting help with the techniques (failure to do so can bring in nightmares).

This is something which I don’t recommend but if you really want to do it, why not? You need to choose the right equipment for yourself as your the one spending time and money looking for it. At the end of the day, all that matters is your health. So do what is right for you.

Elliptical Cross-Trainers

This is a very fun and enjoyable cardio machine. Working out with cross trainers can bring in some serious health benefits to your body. There is no time limit for cross trainers (they can be done for hours). This is something a lot of senior citizens like doing.

One advantage with cross trainers is that they are offered in various sizes and are very affordable up to some extent. You will be able to choose whatever you want in this website as they will be many brands and models put up.

Stair Climbers

Just like rowing, stair climbers have complicated techniques to follow but it’s worth it if you want to up your game. This is something which I don’t recommend but again it’s your choice, right? In case if your interested in it, you can look for it in this website as I’ll put up some good brands.

Stair climbers can be expensive but they will turn your legs from clay to rock (this is something what I said in my other post). Failure in following the techniques can do some serious damage to your back (especially lower back). Make sure to do some research but do keep it as an option.

Confused? Still having trouble choosing the right equipment?

The paragraphs mentioned above is just there to give you an outlined version of what you might expect. You don’t have to worry in choosing the equipment. You could spend some time going through the content once again and just checking up some information on google related to these machines.

Whatever equipment your interested in, I guarantee that you’ll find the best possible equipment on this website as I’ll put up all the brands according to their affordability and all the other factors that come to your mind. Do keep in mind that these equipments can be set up at your homes as well.

All of this is a lot to take in and I do expect tonnes of questions from you. Please ask all the questions that pop up to your mind. If you still don’t know where to start or what to buy, please contact av@exercisegrid.com and I’ll be more than happy to help you out regarding this matter.

Good luck
